Sesame Place
Theatrical Services Technician
May 2016 through Present
While at Sesame Place, I work with the entertainment
department and run the sound/lights, reset props and assist
backstage with the characters and performers for their shows. In
addition I work on the parade floats decorations and upkeep of
the floats and drive in the parade.
I mainly run shows, either Elmo the Musical, Magic of
Art or the Street Show: Our Street is Sesame Street!
The shows range from having three to eight showings a
day depending on the park hours. I assist the Stage
Manager and Host with seating guests and playing the pre-
show music. I also make sure the theatre is set and everything
is running smoothly, the props are intact and the different scene pieces are functional
and unbroken. As well as interact with the guests during the show, and answering
questions about the park after the shows!
At Sesame Place, we have three seasons: Summer, Halloween and Holiday.
In between the seasons our team strikes the sets and installs the next
season. After Holiday is finished, we strike the sets and winterize the park
for snow, while still working on projects to improve the theatres so we are
ready for install of Summer Season in March.
Starting in 2020, Sesame Place started operating every weekend! So I continue on Saturdays through the year!
