Gold Award recipient April 1st, 2013
Girl Scouts
Girl Scout Since 2001, Kindergarten
Lifetime Girl Scout since October 2014
I started Girl Scouts back in 2001, when I was in Kindergarten. I went all
the way through senior year, 2014 when I aged our and moved to an
adult volunteer and facilitator. In my time in Girl Scouts, I earned
my Bronze Award in 5th grade with my troop, my Silver Award in
7th grade and my Gold Award in 11th Grade. I also worked with Girl
Scouts to complete my Graduation Project my senior year. My
graduation Project entailed helping a junior troop earn their Bronze award, a 7th grader get her paperwork together and complete her Silver Award and three 10th graders get their proposal and pre-paperwork together,
and a schedule set up for them all to complete their Gold Awards
individually.
Post high school, I stayed involved as a facilitator for different events,
program, and trainings. I also am part of the Gold Award Committee,
which works with high school students to successfully complete their Gold
Awards! I started with the Gold Award Committee in 2019! In 2014 I taught
brownies about conservation and assisted them in earning a Journey
Badge at the 2014 Social Impact Conference. I worked with the girls to
figure out how to give back to their communities and schools, then the
girls worked in groups to think of ways to help, and make a difference.
Some though of holding food drives and clothing drives, and others
thought of doing fundraisers to donate to organizations that help with
these issues. I also facilitated an "up all night" event with juniors and
helped them earn a Journey Badge focusing on social media,
advertisements and current media standards. As well as a leadership
workshop for juniors so they could earn their leadership aid bar.
